| Overview | Before actually joining the two parts together tinning the joint surfaces is required. Your iron must be good and hot for this. Apply the iron to the brass surface and hold some solder to the heated surfaces. If the surface is sufficiently hot the solder will melt almost immediately and flow where you applied the flux. Remove solder immediately after you get it melting and move the iron tip evenly along the area as shown in the image to spread the solder as best you can in an even thickness. If you end up with a large globule in one area, file it off so that you are left with solder but its half way flat
