I did say that this clinic would be (a) comprehensive in modelling detail and (b) step by step. Don't take what I'm doing here anything other than being thorough. One neat thing about these online clinics is the difference between what we can do here and what a magazine presents. A magazine has a fixed amount of page space to show and tell and therefore many photos are omitted due to space limitations. Here we can show more, even half steps, as it were, and quite happily go over the steps again if we need to. Can't do that with a magazine.. When I became part of the online presentation group over here I made the decision that if I take the time and photograph each point of the build and show just about every step; its only going to be easier for any new modeller to be able to follow the step stages and get it right first time, at the very minimum have a better understanding of what they have to do with the tools at least. So some of these pages that follow many of you will say, "yeah, well that was obvious" but there are those who may appreciate the extra detail that these clinics permit. Hope you are all OK with that philosophy. I always wonder if I go too basic sometimes...? OK, attached is the start of the doing it bit. The main casing. Cut yourself a length of the 3/16 x 1/8 brass channel and file square one end. Ensure that the length is longer than the length shown on the drawing of either your choice of 3 or 4 aspect head. I'm doing a 3 aspect head. The reason I ask you to cut it more than longer than usual is so that you get a decent fighting chance, or lots of chances to get one end nice and square. You have some material to play with that way. Once squared one end mark some Sharpie ink ready to mark to length. Set your calipers to your chosen 3/4 aspect head length and mark off. You probably know what comes next. :) Yes, you were all correct, what came next was cut and file square to your chosen length. When you have arrived at this stage shown. Pop that part into your project box. | ||
