Continuing with parts list & materials.  I purposely didn't include a LED tester on the parts list.  It isn't super necessary because with a 1.5V AAA battery it isn't difficult to pass a bit of power thru it to ensure that it is in good working order.  But a tester does make it quick and easy to test each LED just before you install them..  Think if you spend all that time doing the good stuff and when you first power up you have a duff LED.  So I have attached an image of the one I use, in fact I got it in the UK.  Check out the URL printed on the box.

Led Tester

So who's batting first on our clinic..?  I'm going to start with the multi aspect head for a single post, nothing special but it incorporates the item common to all colour light signals.  Once you have understood, hopefully improve with some good ideas, my methods, you will be good to go for all signals.  Two aspect with multi colour LED's installed (prototype), I'm working on and have yet to arrive at a decent doable working solution in model form.  But I will.

I'll go thru the rest of the parts until a single post is complete. Then we can make a start on the additional items. Call-ons and feathers.  Theatre box comes last, which can only be after the article in MRJ is published on the one I'm  building at the present for Charlotte Road.  So to keep us all straight, the second attachment is an old image but details the nomenclature I use for the all the parts I make.

I'm working in this manner because I know there are some of you who want to start at the elementary stage, is there any other way really...?  For those who are far more skilled and versed in scratch building signals, please bear with me as I go through these elementary steps, and I mean, elementary.

So first up is a 3 aspect head.  The build begins.

I work at my own pace and there will be times when nothing appears here, at least from me.  I will be out for a month commencing September 25th thru Oct 25th (2007).  I'll be railfanning for 12 days and then over to the UK for both the Taunton expo and the following weekend to Rawtenstall.  Charlotte Road appearing at both venues.
