Continuing the build of the head.  Step 5 is soldering the two parts together

Now on to step 6.  A few messages ago I mentioned that the target board is best cut larger than the dimensions shown on the drawing.  This is to make it a little easier to end up with the target board dead nuts on the center of it and the main casing.  One of the small nuisance things I found was maintaining the positioning of the casing on the target board when soldering the two together.  But making the board oversize and soldering the parts as close as you can, by eye, on their mutual centerline, then any slight movement matters little.

Once the two parts are soldered together, and a tad off center between one another, all you need to do is file the edges of the target board to final width dimension; one will have to be filed more than the other.  My sketch image shows more or less what I did, soldered the two parts and when measured established that the casing was off centre by 0.004" but my target board was 20 thou larger than required.  Thus by filing 8 thou off one edge and 12 off the other I was able to have my main casing dead bang on center, not even 0.0005" off center - yeah, not even half a thou.

Cool eh..?
