WFRM Signal Master for Model Signal Engineering

Model Signal Engineering website is here

Tony Sissons writes

It was at RailWells 2005 that I committed to make for Andrew Hartshorne owner of Model Signal Engineering - MSE, a 4mm to 12 inch scale master of a signal post base so that he could cast a white metal copy for his increasing range of signal parts.  Best of all for Andrew, I promised him that I’d do it for nothing, and I did.  The photo shows it next to a 5p coin, don’t bet the farm this will be its selling price mind, best to watch Andrew’s MSE web site for future details.

Update June 2007

Initial samples of the new casting for signal post telephones (SPT) are now under assessment.

Update 13 September 2006

From Andrew (Hartshorne) :

CL001 4mm scale colour light signal bases, £1.50 for five. Developed in conjunction with the Wirral Finescale Railway Modellers, the casting is suitable for 5/64" or 2mm post tubes, and is easily drilled out for larger diameters. This style of base is also used on modern tubular post semaphore signals. Further colour light signal parts are in development, eventually leading up to a range of complete kits in both 4 and 7mm scales.

Update October 2006

Keep an eye on this page as Tony Sissons is working on some more masters for Model Signal Engineering. Andrew Hartshorne asked if Tony would do some more and he agreed. Up next, according to Tony, will be the telephone box. Designed to be easily adhered to the signal post. Hopefully Tony will make more than just one style of telephone box for MSE. He thinks that he’ll have these finished and mailed to Andrew before Christmas.

Update 27 November 2007

Tony said "watch this page" and sure enough he delivered this new set of modern telephone box masters to  Andrew Hartshorne of  MSE at Warley 2006.  These are the modern range of signal post telephone boxes found most anywhere attached to a signal post.  They are current with the older tapered telephone box, a curved style and the new fancy telephone casing that is also shown here.  What Tony has cleverly done is made a master base that is a virtual one size fits all.  The base can be glued to the signal post using cyanoacrylate, then any one of the three can be attached.  What's extra nice about this two piece telephone box design is that on the tapered box you can stick a very small piece of 5 or 10 thou plasticard to create the gap for the bells.  -  We are sure Andrew Hartshorne at MSE does a fine job of producing them and getting them to market soon.
